Alpine Summer

If you can't get enough of the mountains when they are covered by a blanket of snow and offer miles of pistes for your enjoyment on skis then do take a moment to consider a summer trip to the Alps. Whilst the snow won't be underfoot (at least in most places) the summer pastures covered in wild flowers really do have to be seen to be believed.

Temperatures can soar in the mountains in the summer, yet the air stays beautifully fresh and the mountain lakes offer the perfect spot to cool off.

The resorts are often quite unrecognisable too. After the mayhem of winter they revert to village life of old where days are relaxed and everyone knows everyone.

With skiing off the activity list (although it is possible to summer ski in certain resorts) there is a whole host of other pursuits to keep you entertained. Hiking, biking, golf, paragliding and water sports to name but a few, or cookery courses, spa days, yoga and fishing for those looking for a more relaxed approach.
