Lyngen Lodge, Summit to Sea Skiing in Norway

Kaluma have teamed up with fully qualified UIAGM Mountain Guide, Graham Austick, and his team, to be able to offer you this great opportunity to ski on the fantastic mountains of the Lyngen Alps, in the Arctic Circle in Norway.

You’ll be staying at the luxurious Lyngen Lodge, right on the eastern shore of the Lyngen Fjord. The lodge comes complete with hot tubs, a private chef and stunning views of the surrounding mountains, glaciers and impressive peaks. Catering for up to 18 people, the food at this fantastic lodge has a unique Norwegian Coastal twist to it and the fully stocked bar can be enjoyed throughout your stay. The lodge has 8 en suite rooms with triple and single options available and will be your base camp and relaxation retreat for the action packed week ahead.

We can ensure a week you’ll never forget.

From the jetty of the lodge, the “The Spirit of Lyngen” boat will take you across the Fjord to the snow covered shore, at the base of one of the regions 60 peaks. The adventure continues on skins and touring skis, where you will make your way up to one of the summits, offering stunning, 360 degree and unforgettable views. Glaciers, open powder fields, tree lined and forest skiing are ahead of you. Once at the top, having relaxed, recouped and refuelled the real fun begins!

With descents of up to 2kms you can ski in fresh untouched snow, with breath taking views of the sea in front of you. Arriving after a fresh descent to snow covered beaches is something very special and a unique experience you can only enjoy in this part of the world.

Once you’ve reached the shoreline, the boat is ready and waiting to whisk you to your next fresh powder field or back across the fjord for a well-earned hot tub. That is, of course, unless you fancy casting a line for a bit of afternoon/evening fishing, catching the freshest of fish which can be prepared for you for dinner.

As well as this fantastic opportunity to experience “summit to sea” skiing in the Arctic Circle, you will also find yourself captivated by the stunning flora and fauna that surrounds you. You can expect to see whales and dolphins in the fjord throughout the year and are highly likely to spot a moose, wolverine or lynx. The famous and spectacular Northern Lights are also in clear view through February to early April.

Touring on skis does require a decent level of fitness and it is definitely recommended to turn up strong and fit. Previous touring experience is preferred although not essential as we also offer beginner touring courses from the Lodge. A typical day will include between 1000 and 1400meters of climbing, but remember, this is a holiday and touring is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. There are differing group levels, based on previous experience and fitness levels. Contact us to discuss your fitness requirements.
